Months becoming years. Hope followed by disappointment. Prayers that seem to go unanswered. Infertility isn’t simply a medical problem to be fixed. For many couples, it’s a profound sorrow. Any conversation about IVF that does not begin by acknowledging that suffering has begun in the wrong place.

Let us pray to the Holy Infant of Prague.

It was once very popular to give a statue of the Infant of Prague surrounding weddings, new homes, and for special intentions. There is a statue of the Infant of Prague in our parish church. How did devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague originate? In 16th-century Spain, devotion to the royalty of the Infant Jesus began to spread. Out of great love for the humanity of Christ, St. Teresa of Avila developed the Carmelite devotion to the Infant Jesus.
